Why would I pay an auto detailing service when an automatic car wash will do it for $5?
Automatic car washes are cheap and quick ways to clean your car and it is definitely an option for someone who doesn’t want to clean it themselves and aren’t particular about the state or longevity of their paint. One would pay to get their car detailed if they wanted it cleaned without having to worry about a machine grinding dirt into the paint or if they knew about the dangers of the suns harmful UV rays damaging the clear coat and fading the paint, eventually causing rust and ruining the value of the car. Get a detailer who uses proper waxes or paint sealants that will ensure the longevity of your paint and retain value.
How long does it take for a full detail?
Although a full detail will always have the same procedures, many things have influence on how long it will take to complete a detail.
A Full Detail will usually take somewhere around 3-5 hours with larger vehicles taking longer due to the detailer having to cover more surface area, cars with a lot of stains that require multiple passes with shampoo, deeper scratches requiring more aggressive compounds, and an abundance of pet hair are all things that add time to a detail.
What is a Paint Correction and do I need it?
Paint correction is the act of applying a compound or polish, usually by machine with a dual action polisher or a rotary buffer, and essentially flattens the clear coat and removes defects like scratches and swirls. If you see metal under the paint or if a scratch is deep enough to catch your fingernail then it may be in need of a respray.
